St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers to Kick Off "Sunday Night Baseball" on ESPN in 2024
According to a release from ESPN, the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers are set to usher in the 35th season of "Sunday Night Baseball" on the network.
Per Ben Cafardo of ESPN, who posted on social media:
The 35th season of ESPN Sunday Night Baseball - the marquee MLB game of the week - starts March 31 at 7PM ET. Shohei Ohtani and the star-studded Los Angeles Dodgers host the St. Louis Cardinals.
Third season together for @KarlRavechESPN,@PerezEd ,@DCone36 & @Buster_ESPN.
It's not a huge surprise to see the Dodgers featured in the first Sunday Night game of the year. After signing Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto this offseason, LA is a World Series favorite and set to be the biggest draw in the sport. Oh yeah, they still have Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts also.
As for the Cardinals, they also figure to be interesting in 2024. After finishing last in the National League Central a season ago, they've added immensely to the pitching staff by signing Sonny Gray, Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn.
The full "Sunday Night Baseball" schedule is not out for the season but here's a look at the early season schedule so far:
March 31: Cardinals @ Dodgers
April 7: Rangers @ Astros
April 14: Padres @ Dodgers
April 21: Rangers @ Braves
April 28: Cubs @ Cardinals
May 26: Cubs @ Red Sox
June 9: Dodgers @ Yankees
June 16: Yankees @ Red Sox
August 18th: Yankees @ Tigers (Little League World Series Classic)
