After spending the first week of the season on the road against the Rays and Astros, the Detroit Tigers are finally opening up the home slate of their season on Thursday, taking on the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park.

The Tigers are coming off a 2-4 road trip, but they did just take two out of three from the defending champion Astros, while the Red Sox are coming off a 2-4 homestand that saw them just get swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Here's how the Tigers will lineup for their home opener:

1) Matt Vierling, RF

2) Javier Baez, SS

3) Riley Greene, CF

4) Spencer Torkelson, 1B

5) Eric Hasse, LF

6) Miguel Cabrera, DH

7) Jonathan Schoop, 3B

8) Jake Rogers, C

9) Ryan Kreidler, 2B

SP: Spencer Turnbull (0-1, 27.00 ERA)

And for manager Alex Cora and the Red Sox:

1) Alex Verdugo, RF

2) Rafael Devers, 3B

3) Justin Turner, DH

4) Masataka Yoshida, LF

5) Adam Duvall, CF

6) Triston Casas, 1B

7) Christian Arroyo, 2B

8) Reese Mcguire, C

9) Enrique Hernandez, SS

SP: Chris Sale (0-0, 21.00 ERA)

The Red Sox, fresh off getting swept by Pittsburgh, will look to get the bats going in the Motor City. The Sox were held to one run in each of the last two games against Pittsburgh. They do bring their full lineup into Game 1 of this series, as Duvall and Hernandez each had the day off yesterday.

The other story for Boston is the second start for Chris Sale. He was roughed up by Baltimore the last time out, surrendering seven runs in three innings. How he continues to evolve this season - and how durable he can be -- will go a long way in determining the fate of this Sox season.
