The New York Mets and Detroit Tigers will play game two of a doubleheader Wednesday evening at 6:40 p.m. ET at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan.

The Tigers took the first game of the day, defeating the Mets 6-5. Tuesday's game was postponed on account of weather, forcing the teams to 'play two' on Wednesday.

Max Scherzer (2-1, 3.72 ERA) will make his first start since returning from his ten-game suspension, after he was ejected in his last start for using foreign substances to enhance his grip on the baseball. Scherzer did not appeal his suspension. Wednesday night, he will make his highly-anticipated return, facing a familiar opponent. Scherzer pitched five seasons for the Tigers from 2010 through 2014, before signing a seven-year, $210 million deal with the Washington Nationals. With the Nationals, Scherzer won a World Series title in 2019.

Taking the mound for the Tigers Wednesday night will be right-handed veteran Michael Lorenzen (0-1, 7.07 ERA). Lorenzen pitched for the Los Angeles Angels last season, before signing a free agent contract with the Tigers over the winter. He will try for his first win of the season Wednesday night, as the Tigers attempt to sweep the doubleheader.
