Team Dominican Republic and Team Puerto Rico will meet for a critical World Baseball Classic game Wednesday night at loanDepot Park in Miami, Florida, with a trip to the WBC quarterfinals on the line.

With the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico tied for second in Pool D of the World Baseball Classic at 2-1, the winner of Wednesday night's game will advance to the quarterfinals, while the loser will be eliminated.

Venezuela already clinched a trip to the quarterfinals by sweeping all four teams in Pool D: Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Israel and Nicaragua. The winner of Wednesday's meeting between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic will finish as the runner-up in Pool D, advancing to play the winner of Pool C on Saturday in Miami.

With each team's tournament hopes on the line, the Dominican Republic will turn to veteran Johnny Cueto, who will start Wednesday's game. Jovani Moran will start for Team Puerto Rico.
