The New York Yankees enter play on Wednesday red-hot, having won 15 of their last 20 games.

Part of the reason for their massive surge? The home run ball.

Bryan Hoch of MLB.com has more perspective on Twitter, saying:

The #Yankees were a .500 club entering play on May 2 (15-15). Since then, they have won 15 of 20 games. Their 40 homers in that 20-game stretch is the most in @MLB.

If you average two home runs a game, you're going to win most nights, and that's exactly what the Yankees have done.

Part of the surge in home runs also coincides with Aaron Judge coming back off the injured list earlier this month. Judge has also been hot, and he's up to a team-high 14 home runs entering Wednesday.

Outside of Judge, the team doesn't have massively high individual totals, but they are getting a collective effort in the power department.

YANKEES HR Leaders (entering play on Wednesday)

1) Aaron Judge, 14

2) Anthony Rizzo, 11

3) Gleyber Torres, 7

4) Anthony Volpe, 7

5) DJ LeMahieu, 5

5) Harrison Bader, 5

Power bats like Franchy Cordero are in the minors while Josh Donaldson and Giancarlo Stanton are on the injured list. When Donaldson and Stanton come back soon, the Yankees power boon could get more extensive.

The Yankees are hosting the Orioles on Wednesday night. At the time of this posting, the game has been delayed.

When it starts, Nestor Cortes will pitch for New York and Tyler Wells goes for Baltimore.
