Even Politicians are Making Fun of the Seattle Mariners Now

Things have gotten so bad for the Seattle Mariners that even politicians are taking shots at them.

Per Washington State Representative Adam Smith on social media:

The message centers on the desires of Jim Jordan to win the Speaker of the House position, but you don't even have to be politically inclined to get the gist: Something in politics is embarrassing - just like the Seattle Mariners, hahahahahha! Pretty funny, huh?

The Mariners are the only team to never appear in the World Series, and have spent most of their nearly 50 year existence as a league-wide laughingstock.

That continued again this season when the Mariners failed to capitalize on the success of 2022, missing the playoffs by 1.0 game.

Not only did they miss the playoffs by one game, Baseball Ops head Jerry Dipoto embarrassed himself by saying the Mariners were doing the fans a favor by not chasing a World Series.... huh?

Not only did all that happen, as the season ended, key members of the roster called out ownership for not spending enough money to get the team competitive - like the division rival Rangers.

The Mariners are heading into a vital offseason. If they want to undo the stench of 2023, they'll need to pony up in free agency and make a run at Shohei Ohtani - and others.
