WATCH: Ken Griffey Jr., Mike Trout Share Hitting Tips at WBC

Prior to Sunday's World Baseball Classic game, Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout and Hall of Fame outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. were seen chatting about hitting while Team USA took batting practice at loanDepot Park in Miami, Florida.

Griffey is Team USA's hitting coach. Days earlier, Griffey took batting practice in front of the entire Team USA roster.
It was a sight to see for Team USA, as most of its players grew up watching Griffey. Griffey was a baseball icon and the favorite player of many young boys that watched him play in the 1990s.

Griffey, like Team USA manager Mark DeRosa, has no professional coaching experience, but given the footage that we've seen, he appears to be a hit with his players on Team USA's roster.
Since 2021, Griffey has worked as a senior adviser to Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred.
Trout finished eighth in American League MVP voting in 2022, slashing .283/.369/.999 with 40 home runs and 80 RBI. Since 2013, Trout has placed in the top two in MLB Network's 'Top 100 Right Now' player rankings. For the first time in a decade, Trout was not ranked in the top two, entering the 2023 season. He instead was ranked no. 3.
In his 12-year career, Trout has collected three American League MVP Awards, ten All-Star appearances and nine Silver Slugger Awards. Trout has made just one playoff appearance in his career, in 2014. He is just two wins away from picking up his first career World Baseball Classic championship.
Team USA plays Cuba Sunday night, with a trip to the WBC championship game on the line. The winner will play either Japan or Mexico.
