Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers is a two-time World Series champion. He won with the 2018 Red Sox and the 2020 Dodgers.

He's also a six-time gold glover as an outfielder.

But on Thursday, Betts did something he's never done as a major leaguer -- play shortstop.

He came up as a second baseman with the Red Sox but moved to the outfield because he was blocked by Dustin Pedroia. He's appeared at second base for the Dodgers since arriving in Los Angeles prior to the 2020 season but had never appeared at shortstop until Thursday against the Chicago Cubs.

He entered the game as a pinch-hitter after just being activated from the paternity list, moved to shortstop and looked pretty comfortable out there. Check out this slick 6-3 double play he turned.

He looks like a natural out there. He fields the ball on the hop, runs right to the bag and steps on it himself and then delivers the jump throw perfectly.

There's been some talk of Betts getting some time at shortstop recently and he certainly looks capable of handling it.

In his career, he has appeared in 1,084 games in the outfield, 35 games at second and 14 at DH. Now? He can add shortstop to that resume.

Of course, with Betts, it isn't just about defense. An elite offensive player, he won the MVP in the American League in 2018. He's a six-time all-star and a lifetime .293 hitter with 215 home runs.

The Dodgers beat the Cubs on Thursday by a score of 6-2 to move to 10-10 on the season.
