WATCH: New York Yankees' Anthony Volpe Hits Go-Ahead HR vs. Blue Jays, Gets Curtain Call

In this story:
New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the eighth inning on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The two-run blast to right field off of Yimi Garcia gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead and gave Volpe a curtain call from the Yankee Stadium crowd, per reports.
You can see the home run below: It came on a center-cut fastball and was driven a projected 364 feet. It was hit at a 98.9 mph exit velocity. The twitter bot "Would it dong" reported that this would have been a home run in only 10/30 major league ballparks.

Volpe's big blast backed up another dominant start from Yankees starter Gerrit Cole, who went 5.2 innings of scoreless ball and lowered his ERA to 0.79.
That is the lowest ERA for a Yankees pitcher through five starts since 1951.
The good vibes off the Volpe home run were short lived. As we were about to publish this, the Yankees surrendered a two-run home run, making the score 2-2 in the top of the ninth at the time of this posting.
We've written a lot about Volpe here at Fastball, including a post on his first-ever major league home run, which you can see here. It came on April 14th against the Minnesota Twins.
He's out to a slow-ish start at the major league level, hitting just .200 with the two home runs and four RBI. He has stolen eight bases already and has been moved to the top of the Yankees order. He was a first-round selection in the 2019 draft.
