The Chicago White Sox had gone 12 days without a win, until Sunday.

Down 9-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning, the White Sox completed an improbable and unlikely comeback, scoring seven runs and defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 12-9 on a walk-off, three-run home run from first baseman Andrew Vaughn.

Entering the ninth, it appeared the White Sox' losing streak would reach 11 games. Romy Gonzalez lined out for the inning's first out, then Eloy Jimenez singled to left field. Yasmani Grandal reached first after he was hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second. Jake Burger doubled home a run. Oscar Colas hit a sacrifice fly to bring the deficit to 9-7.

With two outs, the White Sox showed signs of life for the first time in nearly two weeks. Elvis Andrus singled home Burger, trimming the Rays' lead to 9-8. Lenyn Sosa kept the hit parade going with a single to right field, moving Andrus to second base.

At this time, Rays manager Kevin Cash went to his bullpen, relieving Jalen Beeks and calling upon Garrett Cleavinger.

Cleavinger gave up a hit to the first batter he faced, Adam Haseley, tying the game at 9-9. Then, with runners on first and second, Vaughn hit a walk-off home run, finally putting the Sox back in the win column.

With the win, the White Sox improve to 8-21, moving out of last place in the American League Central. The team will enjoy a day off Monday, before hosting the Minnesota Twins Tuesday through Thursday.
