UFC Announces Veteran Lightweight Main Event for October Event Schedule
Fan favorite UFC veteran Bobby "King" Green will face off against No. 10 ranked lightweight Grant "KGD" Dawson in the main event of UFC Vegas 80 on October 7. The fight was reported by David Van Auken on September 7.
It's an unconventional fight, since Dawson is a top-10 ranked lightweight and Green was looking to break into the top-15 with a ranked victory. Well, he gets his chance to break into the top-10 with a victory over Dawson.

Dawson, boasting an undefeated record in the UFC, has been on an incredible eight-fight winning streak (discounting his draw against Ricky Glenn), delivering dominant performances against formidable opponents like Damir Ismagulov, Jared Gordon, and Leonardo Santos.
In contrast, Green has experienced a rollercoaster ride in his career, trading wins and losses. However, his recent resurgence can be attributed to his fearless 'anyone, anytime, anywhere' fighting mentality.
Following his remarkable victory against Tony Ferguson in July, Green is eager to add another win to his resume. It's worth noting that he was on the verge of breaking a two-fight losing streak against Jared Gordon in December 2022, only for an accidental clash of heads to overturn his KO victory.

It's an interesting matchup for certain, as Dawson opts to use a smothering wrestling gameplan to win fights whilst Green is a lucid philly-shell boxer-striker. The odds are stacked against Green, but an underdog victory here propels him back into lightweight relevancy.
