VIDEO: Islam Makhachev Finishes Alex Volkanovski With Sensational Head Kick At UFC 294

The dust has settled on the UFC 294 main event championship rematch between Islam Makhachev and Alex Volkanovski.

Makhachev and Volkanovski squared off a second time for the UFC Lightweight Championship on Saturday (October 21). Their first encounter took place back in February, and it was Makhachev who had his hand raised in a highly competitive fight.

Volkanovski had the home crowd rooting for him in the first fight, but he found himself in enemy territory this time. The rematch was held inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Makhachev opened things up with an inside leg kick. Volkanovski landed an outside leg kick. Makhachev threw a high kick and then went for a takedown. Volkanovski reversed position and had Islam against the fence. Makhachev threw a knee up the middle.

The two continued to battle in the clinch before separating. A right hand landed for Makhachev. A head kick from Makahchev dropped Volkanovski. Some follow-up punches and referee Marc Goddard called the fight off.
