Nate Diaz did not seem to be impressed with the UFC 297 main event, which saw Dricus Du Plessis earn a split decision against Sean Strickland to win the UFC middleweight title. Du Plessis scored his seventh consecutive UFC win, and he improved to 20-2 overall.

As for Strickland, he failed to secure a successful title defense after upsetting Israel Adesanya in September on three weeks' notice.

Diaz, famously known for his two classic bouts with former UFC double champion Conor McGregor, enjoyed an illustrious MMA run that spanned 17 years, all taking place in the UFC Octagon.

He also partook in and won the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2007 and also competed for the UFC lightweight title before losing to Benson Henderson a few years later.

Diaz eventually tried boxing before losing to Jake Paul last summer.

Although his future in combat sports is uncertain, Diaz remains interested in the UFC, so he watched UFC 297, which took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Apparently, based on Diaz's tweet, he didn't think Du Plessis' performance was up to par. The tweet got tons of traction at press time, with 272,000 impressions and several replies in disagreement with the former UFC star.

Du Plessis' victory made him the first South African-born UFC champion and the fourth different middleweight champion in the last 18 months.

The fight capped off the UFC's first pay-per-view event of 2024, as Raquel Pennington won a decision over Mayra Bueno Silva in the night's co-main event to win the women's bantamweight title.
