UFC 300: Khamzat Chimaev Reveals Availability for Rumored Main Event

"Borz" is supposedly one of the preferred headliners for UFC 300.

Unbeaten UFC middleweight Khamzat Chimaev has revealed whether or not he could feature as part of the highly-anticipated main event for UFC 300.

There are just two months to go until the UFC’s landmark event on April 13, but UFC CEO Dana White claims that the promotion has struggled to put together a suitable fight to serve as the night’s headlining attraction.

Noted MMA journalist Ariel Helwani recently claimed that the UFC wanted to put together a welterweight title fight between Chimaev and Leon Edwards for the UFC 300 main event, but a fan query on Instagram prompted “Borz” to indicate that he has no plans to fight on the card due to Ramadan.

UFC 300 is set to take place the weekend after Ramadan ends, but it would certainly be difficult for Chimaev to properly prepare for his first UFC title bout if he was fasting for a full month immediately prior to the event.

The bout doesn’t appear to be a possibility, but it would also be a significant surprise to see the UFC put Chimaev into a welterweight title fight after he famously missed weight at UFC 279 and moved up to middleweight to defeat former champion Kamaru Usman in his most recent outing.

Whatever the UFC intends to put together for the UFC 300 main event will certainly have to be revealed sooner rather than later, as fans have already grown impatient waiting to find out what massive fight will cap off the action on April 13.
