LSU Basketball Star Johnson Releases New Music for Super Bowl NIL Deal
It isn’t every day that one can say they were in a Super Bowl commercial, but LSU women’s basketball star Flau’jae Johnson can say that after Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday.
Through a Name, Image and Likeness partnership with Louisiana-based Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, Johnson delivered a remix of the company’s jingle during a Super Bowl commercial as the Kansas City Chiefs played the San Francisco 49ers.
The entire country didn’t see the commercial. It was broadcast during one of the local commercial slots allotted for sale during the broadcast.
But McKernan shared the video of the commercial on social media.

The NIL space has allowed Johnson to explore music and leverage her rapping and songwriting. She has delivered singles, EPs and participated in collaborations with famous artists such as Lil Wayne.
Johnson has been in high demand in the NIL space since her freshman season when the LSU Tigers won the national championship, beating the Iowa Hawkeyes. On3.com gives Johnson a $1.1 million valuation in the space, though that’s not an accurate reflection on what she has earned.
But she has a range of deals with national brands, including her own shoe deal with Puma. She also has deals or partnerships with Powerade, Tampax, Amazon, Doritos, Papa John’s, Raising Cane’s and Meta.
Johnson, who plays alongside another dominant presence in the NIL space in Angel Reese, is averaging 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for the Tigers, who are 21-4 and 8-3 in SEC action and ranked No. 13 in the latest Associated Press Top 25. The Tigers are off until Saturday when they travel to Texas A&M.
