North Carolina State Coach Calls for NIL Donors After Rivalry Win

NC State beat UNC and now Dave Doeren pushes for more NIL support

The North Carolina State football team is ranked in the top-25 and defeated interstate rival North Carolina over the weekend to finish the regular season with a 9-3 record.

After the game, Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren made sure to give the program's NIL Collective a shoutout with a strong call for support, per Brian Murphy of WRAL:

"For all you folks that want us to keep winning, I would tell you to get on Savage Wolves, find that link. I’d love to see 5,000 people donate $1,000 to our NIL and get us to a point where we can recruit, retain and develop and have a program in the NIL world where the guys on our roster are able to benefit from that."

NC State has a pair of NIL Collectives - Savage Wolves and Pack of Wolves - and Doeren is hoping the donors come in so the program can compete in what he called "maybe the worst week in college football" with the transfer portal opening up and players expected to exit left and right.

"I think in this space right now, there’s a lot of bad stuff happening, there needs to be a financial commitment from our fan base to Savage Wolves and Pack of Wolves and our NIL deal so we can take care of these kids that play so hard for us."

Quarterback MJ Morris recently announced his decision to transfer and wide receiver KC Concepcion, who had seven catches for 131 yards and a pair of touchdowns, could be on the move with programs expected to come at him with loads of NIL money.

Doeren's comments are the latest in what has been a common theme from the smaller programs, including UConn HC Jim Mora.

The transfer portal officially opens on December 4.
