Rutgers football had its best season since 2014, winning at least seven games for the first time since they did so during that '14 season. It's been a grind for the football program, a somewhat surprising one given the talent level in New Jersey high school football.

Bergen Catholic, St. Joe's Regional, and Don Bosco Prep are typically among the nation's best high school football teams. The issue, however, is keeping these kids in the state. As Rutgers looks to do that more moving forward, NIL will play a huge factor.

The team played in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium, taking down the University of Miami, 31-24. Head coach Greg Schiano wore a pair of Rutgers sneakers during that game and they were recently auctioned online.

Rutgers football fan David Salerno bought the sneakers via the online auction that was hosted by the Knights of The Raritan. The Knights of The Raritan helps empower Rutgers student-athletes to achieve their greatest potential in the classroom and on the field. They help maximize the NIL opportunities for Rutgers athletes.

Schiano has applauded the help from The Knights of The Raritan for helping him keep and add players. Jon Newman of the Knights of The Raritan recently thanked coach Schiano for helping them put together this auction.

“We’d like to thank coach Schiano and the football staff for putting their best feet forward on this fun project with us,” said Jon Newman of the KTR executive committee.

“We have more member incentives planned throughout the year with exclusive experiences so if you haven’t joined Knights of the Raritan yet – it’s not too late.”

The 2024 Rutgers football team will look to continue improving. With games against Washington, UCLA, and USC, three of the new schools in the Big 10, that won't be an easy task.
