Alli Masters Capitalizes at San Angelo Breakaway Roping

Alli Masters dominates the San Angelo Pro Rodeo's inaugural women's breakaway roping event, holding the lead in both rounds and the average.

This year, the San Angelo Pro Rodeo has made a groundbreaking move by adding women's breakaway roping to its lineup, and Alli Masters is making the most of this opportunity. She currently stands out as the leader in both go-rounds and the average.

With back-to-back winning performances, Masters delivered a 2.30 in the first round and followed up with the fastest time of the rodeo, a 2.10, in the second round. Taylor Munsell matched Masters' time with a 2.10 of her own.

In the average, Masters' combined time of 4.40 seconds on two puts her 0.6 seconds ahead of Josie Connor, the 2022 Rookie of the Year, who holds a time of 5.20 seconds.

Hailing from Leon, Iowa, the 22-year-old Masters comes from a strong rodeo background. Her father, Travis, was a College National Finals qualifier in 1997 and 1998. In 2023, both Masters siblings, Alli and her younger brother Cauy, qualified for the CNFR. Alli graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she where she rodeoed for the Central Plains Region of the NIRA

Master’s list of accomplishments includes winning the Great Lakes Circuit Finals Average and Year-End Titles in both 2021 and 2022. Despite starting the year ranked at No. 62 in the PRCA/WPRA World Standings, her performance at San Angelo is expected to propel her much higher in the rankings.

Reflecting on her success in an interview with the Cowboy Channel's Janie Johnson, Masters said, "To be winning a rodeo of this caliber means a lot; I hope it holds on pretty good."

With her consistency, Masters' lead remains strong. It's likely we'll see her back in action at the Foster Communications Coliseum on Friday, April 19, for the San Angelo Pro Rodeo Finals.
