Two cowboys won big at the Bob Feist Invitational this week as some of team roping's best went head to head at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. In a career defining win, Tyler Tryan and Levi Lord took home a massive check of $160,000 ($80,000 each), along with an $8,000 check for their first round win.

Tryan and Lord Earn Biggest Checks of the Season

Tryan at the head came in quick, with Lord as his heeler, the pair took home the Round 1 win with a run of 5.45-seconds. Other than Clay Smith and Coleby Payne’s Round 5 run of 5.1-seconds, Tryan and Lord had the fastest time of the whole roping, setting the bar high in Round 1 for the other cowboys competing.

Overall, Tryan and Lord secured the fastest time on six heads of 42.21 seconds, beating out the second-place team (Brye Crites and Ross Ashford) by more than four seconds. For Tryan, a cowboy who is going for his first National Finals Rodeo qualification, this win might not count for the standings, but the money sure will help get him down the road.

Lord was a great partner for the cowboy as he has seen the NFR five times and knows his way around the Lazy E Arena. But, Tryan was clearly on a roll this week as he also took home the crown from the Jr. BFI and another $35,000 check, marking him as a true competitor this season.

Tryan is no stranger to the arena as his father is BFI’s all-time leading earner, three-time World Champion Clay Tryan. He is also just coming off his rookie year where he earned the 2025 Resistol Rookie of the Year title, landing at No. 19 in the world standings.

Huge Paychecks for Cowboys

A win like this at BFI will set the tone for the cowboy as he heads into the summer months, where he will be up against some of team roping's most prolific cowboys at some of rodeo's largest events.

Tryan and Lord have made a good pair so far this season, winning second at the Cervi in February. The two will part ways after the Spring, but hopefully can maintain this level of competition throughout the season.

Other big money earners at the 2026 BFI were Crites and Ashford who took home $85,000 to share between them. The third place spot went to Jayse Tettenhorst and Belden Cox who split a check of $55,000.
