Kelton and DeSalvo Win Back-to-Back BFI All-Girl Team Roping Titles

Kenzie Kelton and Whitney DeSalvo once again proved to be a force to be reckoned with at the Bob Feist Invitational (BFI) Charlie 1 Horse All-Girl Team Roping held on April 3, 2024, at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla.
They put on an impressive display of roping skills, securing a second win in a row and taking home a whopping $23,000 prize for roping four steers in just 31.27 seconds. It was like lightning struck twice for the duo, whose win in 2023 earned them $20,000 with a time of 37.50 seconds on four steers.
As the high call back team, they entered the short round with a time of 23.24 seconds on three steers and then sealed the deal with an 8.03-second run for the win.
Kelton rode her trusted 12-year-old mare, "Peaches," which was raised and trained by her dad, while Whitney was on a five-year-old horse named "Rango."
For DeSalvo, this was her sixth title at the BFI since 2018. She also partnered with Kelsie Domer to clinch the second spot, earning $15,000 with a combined time of 35.09 seconds on four steers.
The Kelton family has a long history of winning at the Lazy E Arena. Kenzie's brother, Ketch Kelton, won the 2023 JR Ironman Champion title, and he recently clinched his second win earlier this year. Their dad, Chance Kelton, is a legendary roper with 12 consecutive championships at the Cinch Timed Event Championship from 1999-2011.
