When you talk about professional rodeo tie-down roping, you talk about Riley Webb. The 20-year-old Denton, Texas, cowboy just wins.

In 2022, Webb won the Resistol Rookie of the Year Award by earning an astounding $188,597 to finish ranked No. 10 in the World Standings.

Very few cowboys have a résumé that shows an appearance at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo their rookie year, but Webb is among that elite class.

At his first NFR, he finished No. 12 in the average with a total time of 66.8 seconds on seven of the 10 head. Those particular 10 days in the City of Lights earned him $71,092. He placed in five rounds, including a third-place finish in Round 4 with his 7.8-second time.

Fast forward to 2023, and the young superstar broke records. He won his first of probably many world championships by breaking the season earnings record. Webb amassed a whopping $452,852 for the season.

The pressure was just part of the game for him at only his second NFR. He roped 10 calves in 82.9 seconds to earn the second-place average check and deposit $172,447 over the 10 day period.

He again placed in five rounds, picking up the win in Round 3 with a smoking 6.9-second run.

The 2024 season may not be off to the record-breaking year he experienced in 2023, but make no mistake, in comparison to other cowboys, he is still having a stellar year and heads-and-tails ahead of the average.

Webb has already tallied $51,587 toward his third NFR berth by winning checks nearly everywhere he enters. Webb earned more than $8,900 in Lubbock, Texas, early in the 2024 season.

In Denver, Colo., at the National Western Stock Show, he pocketed another $5,300. Moved on to San Antonio for an incredible $10,250 payday while also winning another $10,000 at Rodeo Houston.

More recently, Webb has been seen backing in the box on a spotted paint steed. The pair has meshed well and proved to be a duo to be contended with at San Angelo. With a 6.9-second run, the newly paired team took a commanding lead in the first round. Webb came back in round two, posting a 10.6-second run for a 17.5 total on two and a solid chance to make the finals.

Without question, when Webb backs in the box, regardless of what color horse he is on, people stop and take notice. This young gun is making strides, setting records and solidifying his spot in tie-down roping history.

We look forward to seeing what Webb and his equine partners will accomplish over the summer months.
