Kassie Mowry is known amongst the barrel racers as the “GOAT” or better explanation the “Greatest Of All Time.” Mowry wins at the futurity, derby, rodeo, and NFR level. Give her a stage and she performs. The last two nights in the Thomas & Mack, she has been the cowgirl on top of the standings when the last barrel was turned.

Round 9 brought about a smoking time of 13.37 for Mowry, which is the third fastest time of the NFR so far. It is even more impressive that Mowry is winning rounds on her 5-year-old she calls “Jarvis.” Force the Goodbye just keeps getting better run after run. Between “Will” and “Jarvis” Mowry has won $138,273 just at the finals. This moved the Dublin, Texas cowgirl from the sixth place position all the way to No. 2. Her year-end earnings total $272,075 so far but she is also second in the average and has the chance at Round 10 yet. She could easily break the $300k mark for the year.

The dapple-grey gelding “Levee” and Lisa Lockhart are performing at the top of their game as usual. Tonight, they clocked their fastest time yet of the NFR a 13.41-second run. The Oelrichs, S.D., lady adds $24,267 to her NFR winnings bringing the total to $99,642.

Jordon Briggs and her amazing equine athlete “Rollo” or Famous Little Jet took advantage of being top of the ground tonight making a snappy run of 13.48 to earn third place in the tough round of competition. Briggs is the 2021 World Champion Cowgirl and has shown her veteran mentality over nine rounds staying consistent. Briggs sits third in the average with a total time of 123.31.

Hailey Kinsel broke the ice and picked up her first check of the 2023 NFR winning fourth tonight with a time of 13.51. Hailey was aboard the fan favorite “Sister”, a 12-year-old palomino mare by PC Frenchmans Hayday and out of Royal Sissy Irish, that is famous for her straight and fast style.

The final round will be run tomorrow night and all that is left to be decided is the winner of the average. Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi has the world championship sewed up with no one within reaching distance.
