The American Quarter Horse Association World Show has been going on in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with the Junior class kicking off the event.

Horses under 5 years old are eligible to compete in the Junior class year round in attempt to qualify for the World Show.

Top futurity trainer Pete Oen was the last runner of the Junior class on top of the stunning yellow mare Shakemup Frenchgirl, owned by Rick Gaston.

Sired by Slick By Design who has over $180,000 in earnings, Shakemup Frenchgirl was destined for the barrel pen.

Oen  and his mare might've been the last team to run, but they clocked an impresive time of 15.387 seconds, setting a new arena record. Along with the record they took home a coveted AQHA Gold Globe and World Champion gold buckle.

Oen won the bronze globe in the same class, Oen and the A Streak Of Fling daughter, Streak Gypsy Streak, owned by Mary and Angela Standford, won third.

Oen was also in the top five with up and coming stallion RP Recoil N Strike, owned by Roger and Rachel Primm. Sired by thoroughbred stallion Coil, who won over $1 million, and out of Dashin Julene, who won over $77,000 in the barrel pen. RP Recoil N Strike is standing to the public this year at Switzer-Hill Horses.

Over in the Senior Barrel Racing class Oen also snagged the 2023 reserve title and silver globe on Baptized By Fire, by Fire Water Flit out of Lady Perks who won over $240,000, and is owned by Marty and Angela Richardson.

All together Oen won 3 globes and took home $10,000 in AQHA earnings.
