The period between the NBA Summer League and the start of the preseason is usually the time when rookies solidify their sneaker deals. However, Toronto Raptors forward Gradey Dick and Los Angeles Lakers guard Jalen Hood-Schifino have already handled their business.

On Monday morning, adidas announced that it had signed Dick and Hood-Schifino to multi-year footwear and apparel contracts. Dick, a former Kansas Jayhawk, and Hood-Schifino, a former Indiana Hoosier, both wore adidas in college. In fact, both players were members of the brand's NIL class last year.

In a heartfelt announcement, both players posed with their family members in photoshoots. Adidas said, "The 2023 Collection: Chapter 03 is a celebration of the invaluable individuals who stand behind each player – those who not only support but inspire their why."

The announcement continued, "We’re excited to officially welcome Gradey Dick and Jalen Hood-Schifino to the adidas basketball family while also paying homage to their village, the unsung heroes who have provided them unwavering support and inspiration throughout their journey!"

It has been less than three weeks since the 2023 NBA Draft and a handful of players have already locked in their sneaker contracts. Top draft pick Victor Wembanyama and the second overall selection Brandon Miller both signed with Nike. Meanwhile, the third overall pick Scoot Henderson will represent PUMA in the league.

Now that Dick and Hood-Schifino have finalized their footwear contracts, the real work begins. The two rookies have less than three months before they make their professional debut. With adidas by their side, they will certainly remember their inspiration for why they are competing at the highest level.
