Most sports fans could be forgiven for watching football games on New Year's Day instead of a lopsided game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz. However, major sneaker news flew in under the radar during Monday's NBA game. Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving returned to the court in an unreleased pair of ANTA basketball shoes.

It is hard to discern much from the all-black colorway, but fans are speculating that it could be either his first signature sneaker with the Chinese brand or at least a wear-test model he is trying out on the court. Check out the social media post from KICKS CREW below for a closer look.

The new hoop shoe features Irving's new signature logo on the heel counter and ANTA branding on the lateral sides. Over the past year, Irving has shaken up the footwear industry by signing a five-year signature sneaker contract with ANTA, which also made him the Chief Creative Officer of the brand's basketball division.

Additionally, Irving partnered with the sneaker platform KICKS CREW in December 2023. As part of his investment in the global sneaker platform, Irving became its Chief Community Officer. Throughout the 2023-24 NBA season, Irving has worn the ANTA Shockwave 5 Pro, which is available in multiple colorways on the KICKS CREW website and app.

There is still no official announcement or release date for Irving's highly anticipated signature sneaker line with ANTA. But it is safe to say that it will make major waves in the basketball world when it hits the hardwood. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news.
