Much has changed over the past decade, especially for Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant. The 35-year-old has had a revolving door of teams, coaches, and teammates. However, Duant's production on the court and his signature sneaker line with Nike have remained steadfast.
With the 2024 NBA All-Star Game quickly approaching, Nike is reprising one of Durant's most iconic sneakers. The Nike KD 4 "Galaxy" is synonymous with Durant's MVP performance in the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. It took 12 years, but the futuristic-looking hoop shoe is finally returning next month.
Nike KD 4 "Galaxy"
The Nike KD 4 "Galaxy" is scheduled to be released for $130 in adult sizes on February 15, 2024. The fan-favorite hoop shoe was originally released in February 2012 for $90. While fans wait for the highly anticipated launch, they can buy Durant's new and retro sneakers at a discount in most styles on the Nike website.
The "Galaxy" colorway was part of a larger space-theme collection inspired by the Kennedy Space Center for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game in Orlando, Florida. Durant's kicks sported a metallic silver upper, orange detailing, and mesmerizing black midsole.
The Nike KD 4 "Galaxy" was an instant classic that has only grown in popularity because it is a relic of a bygone era. Nike no longer puts this level of attention to detail in its basketball shoe colorways. The 2016 NBA All-Star Game in Toronto was the last time we saw a coherent collection of colorways that featured the same theme.
