Darby Allin Recalls How He Felt After AEW World Title Win

Darby Allin won the AEW World Championship for the first time earlier this year, and he recently reflected on his remarkable victory.

Allin has been with AEW since 2019, and he has grown into one of the company's top stars. He has won the TNT Championship twice and also captured the tag team titles with Sting.

But before this year, he had never won the world championship. That changed when he beat MJF to win the gold at AEW Dynamite Spring BreakThru. Allin defeated MJF in just over two minutes, which was an outcome that shocked the wrestling world. MJF later won the title back from Allin at Double or Nothing.

In a new interview, Allin reflected on his world title win, recalling how he felt in the moment and explaining why winning the gold was so meaningful to him.

In an interview with Rob Wolkenbrod of Forbes, Allin was asked to recall how he felt when he won the world title, and he explained that he felt numb because he was physically depleted.

"I felt nothing, and that’s because my body was so depleted," Allin said. "I was so beat into the ground leading up to that week, dude. It took everything to get to that point. So afterwards, it felt numb. It was crazy."

Allin went on to say that once he got to the back and started to process what had happened, he was able to appreciate the moment. The former champion noted that he reached the top without compromising himself, and that was important to him.

"I realized that I climbed to the top of AEW without having to compromise myself, and that meant everything to me," he said. "Because to me, what’s the point of becoming a world champion if you’re just an industry plant and what you’re doing is not from the soul and isn’t pure? The fact that I was able to do that in AEW without compromising anything was everything to me."

In recent months, Allin has been feuding with TNT Champion Kevin Knight. The two stars are set to clash at All In at Wembley Stadium. Beyond that, it's fair to assume that Allin will target the world title again sooner rather than later.

Regardless, the night he beat MJF remains one of the most unforgettable moments in Dynamite history.
