Wharton grad Evan Christ named Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - Right-handed pitcher Evan Chrest, a former baseball star at Tampa’s Wharton High School, has named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball after his first season at Jacksonville at Jacksonville University.
Chrest fanned 98 batters with just 36 walks over 90-2/3 innings while posting an 8-2 record and a 2.68 ERA. He was also a 1st-Team Atlantic Sun Conference pick and the league’s Freshman of The Year.
At Wharton High School in Tampa, Chrest was twice named All-County in baseball and was a District MVP in 2021. Following his senior year he was selected in the 17th round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Florida Marlins, but decided to pass on a professional career for the time being to play for the Dolphins.
