THREE TO SEE
Mister Williams OLB, RB
One of the top linebackers in the region, Williams also took
snaps at running back last season. He holds scholarship offers from UCLA, Cal
and LSU.
Bryce Farrell WR
Stanford commit. Was a 1,000-yard receiver as a sophomore.
Battled injuries in 2018. Farrell also returns punts.
Jameson Wang QB
After two years of Josh Calvert playing QB, the Lions have a “real” quarterback this season in Jameson Wang. Calvert was a linebacker who played quarterback because it gave Oaks the best chance to win. This season, the Oaks staff has given Wang that duty. Wang, a dual-threat signal caller, transferred in from Harvard-Westlake this offseason. He holds multiple D-1 scholarship offers.
OUTLOOK
It will be tough for Oaks to replicate last year’s success. A 12-0 season and then a semifinal loss to St. John Bosco was the team’s ceiling last year and that’s what it will be again. Getting to Bosco or Mater Dei is really all other Division 1 teams can hope for.
Oaks’ road will be a little tougher this season due to losing players to graduation and other teams strengthening, but make no mistake about it, the Lions should still be a Division 1 playoff team. The Marmonte League championship will be decided when Oaks hosts Calabasas on October 25.
