THREE TO SEE
Tim Engstrom, offensive lineman
One of nine siblings, he lost 50 pounds this offseason -- and is fast-moving tackle
Sam Morasch, wide receiver
He came in as a quarterback, but team’s best all-around athlete prefers catching passes
X-zavier Thomas, defensive lineman
Physical, fast and top-notch athlete, he’s expected to be top sack man again
OUTLOOK
As a seldom-used quarterback at Olympia High School, Hurt received the best piece of advice at the year-end banquet from former coach Bill Beattie: Go be a good coach.
And he now takes over a program for the first time -- after spending the past four seasons as the Falcons’ offensive coordinator.
This season, he won’t have do-everything quarterback Hudson Potts taking snaps. He graduated. Sophomores Nate Beck and Alan Braaflat will battle it out to see who runs Hurt’s spread offense.
Morasch, Peterson and Taylor will be nice outlets for an inexperienced quarterback in his first year. Kentlake will have its struggles with a young group, but better days should be ahead.
