Mt. Spokane football player Kannon Katzer voted athlete of the week

Congratulations to Mt. Spokane High School's Kannon Katzer for being voted our Washington Federal Athlete of the Week!
Katzer, a senior RB/DB who plays all over the field, exploded for five touchdowns and 438 all-purpose yards in Mt. Spokane’s 38-35 season-opening win over Glacier (Montana) on Sept. 6. His all-purpose yards included 255 and a TD on the ground and 162 and a TD on kick returns.

Katzer received 42% of the vote, beating out Chiawana LB Riley Cissne who finished with 31%. Steilacoom WR Emeka Egbuka finished third with 11%, while Mead QB Ryan Blair came in fourth.

Jacques Badaloto-Birdsell, Camas RB: Badaloto-Birdsell logged 171 yards on the ground at 9.5 yards per carry, including a 63-yard touchdown run, to help lead Camas to a season-opening 24-14 victory over Lincoln.
Justin Baker, Kennedy Catholic ATH: Baker had a big game on both sides of the ball in the Lancers' 32-27 win over Bethel on Friday, including a 91-yard kickoff return touchdown and a touchdown reception.
Gabe Johnson, Kentwood RB: Johnson rushed for 115 yards, including a pair of short touchdowns, to lead Kentwood to a season-opening 29-3 win over Skyline on Thursday.
Matt Gabbert, Central Valley QB: Gabbert was 9-for-16 for 175 yards and four touchdown passes in Central Valley's season-opening 27-10 upset of Bellevue.
Ryan Blair, Mead QB: Blair completed 23 of 30 passes for 393 yards and four touchdowns to lead Mead to a season-opening 42-21 win over Post Falls (Idaho) on Friday.
Riley Cissne, Chiawana LB: In his first career start at linebacker, Cissne had two tackles for loss, a quarterback sack, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup to lead Chiawana to a 38-7 victory over Richland.
Emeka Egbuka, Steilacoom WR: Egbuka was unstoppable in Steilacoom's season-opening 46-0 win over Lake Washington, hauling in 10 receptions for 270 yards and five touchdowns.
Isaiah Jones, Union RB: Jones rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns in Union's 20-10 season-opening win over Mountain View.
Peyton Brammer, Hockinson WR: Brammer had five catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns in Hockinson's 48-7 season-opening win over Toppenish.
Blake Rybar, Monroe RB: Rybar carried the ball 27 times for 166 yards and caught eight passes for 70 yards in Monroe's season-opening 42-41 win over Eastlake. He scored five total TDs in the win.
