SBLive's 2021 All-Northern Section high school football team

After another highly competitive Northern Section high school football season, it's time to hand out some awards.
Here is SBLive's 2021 All-CIF Northern Section high school team. Our awards include Player of the Year, First Team and Honorable Mention.
The teams were compiled by SBLive reporters Lance Smith and Bodie De Silva.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR:
QB/LB Ryan Osborne – Fall River – SR.
Osborne was one of the best players in the section on both sides of the ball to lead the Bulldogs to a scorching undefeated section (Division 5) and state (7AA) championship run. He threw for 1,638 yards and 18 touchdowns on 61.3% completion, ran for 1,617 yards and 29 touchdowns on 8.6 yards per carry, and racked up 122 tackles, five sacks, and six pass break-ups on defense.

FIRST TEAM OFFENSE:
QB/DB Demarreya Lewis-Cooper – Enterprise – SR.
Lewis-Cooper led the Hornets to a 9-3 season throwing for 1,969 yards and 33 touchdowns to eight interceptions on over 60% completion, and running for 1,095 yards and eight more TDs. He also shined in spot minutes at CB.
RB Tyler Harrison – Paradise – SR.

Harrison ran for 1,731 yards and 24 touchdowns on nearly 11 yards per carry, and finished his high school career with over 4,900 rushing yards in just 29 games.
RB/LB Carter Abel – University Prep – SR.

Abel helped lead the Panthers to a Division 4 title as a dominant running back and kick/punt returner while also shining on defense. He ran for 1,348 yards and 20 touchdowns on 8.3 YPC, caught for 155 yards and three touchdowns to amass over 1,500 yards of total offense, and racked up 435 KR yards and 306 PR yards to finish with 2,253 all-purpose yards. At linebacker he registered 56 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions.
WR/DB Jahari Johnson – Enterprise – SR.
A 2-star prospect, Johnson was one of the best two-way backs in the section as a senior. He caught for 925 yards and 17 touchdowns and made 56 tackles, three tackles for loss, and four picks.
TE/DL Connor Gilbreath – University Prep – SR.
Gilbreath was arguably the best blocker at TE in the Northern Section and also caught for 127 yards and a touchdown. He was equally effective at DE where he recorded 58 tackles, eight sacks, and 18 QB-hurries.
TE/DL Evan Bidwell – Fall River – SR.
Bidwell ran for 330 yards and caught for 430 as a TE/FB for the state champions, and scored 17 total touchdowns. He also went for 114 tackles, two forced fumbles, and an interception in just 11 games,
OL Michael Zopp – Chico – SR.
Zopp anchored the offensive line for the Northern Section Division 2 champion at tackle.
OL Jacob Stahel – Pleasant Valley – SR.
Stahel led a strong Pleasant Valley O-line at guard.
OL Connor Polen – Foothill – SR.
Polen was by many accounts the top center in the section as a senior.
OL/DL Karson Seaman – Los Molinos – SR.
Seaman was the Lineman of the Year and Defensive MVP of the Cascade Valley League at DL, and also a force at OL. He gets the nod for his combined two-way efforts.
OL Andrew McMurtrey – Shasta – SR.
McMurtrey was arguably the top offensive lineman in the Eastern League.

FIRST-TEAM DEFENSE:
DL Osirus Mitchell-Peoples – Enterprise – SR.
Despite drawing frequent double-teams from opposing O-lines, Mitchell-Peoples led the Hornets with 11 tackles for loss and eight QB-hurries to go with 52 tackles, four sacks, and two fumble recoveries.
DL/OL Sam Ruffino – Chico – SR.
Ruffino was arguably the most important member on defense for the No. 1 team in the section.
DL/TE Brandon Saavedra – Pierce – SR.
Saavedra racked up 28 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, and four fumble recoveries to help lead the Bears to the Division 4 finals. He also caught for 111 yards and two touchdowns at TE.
DL Ray Emrick – Paradise – SR.
Emrick helped lead the Bobcats to a 9-2 record and Sacramento Valley League title.
LB Joseph Martinez – Sutter – SR.
Martinez made 124 tackles (four for loss) and two forced fumbles for one of the best defenses in the section.
LB Jayden Bendure – East Nicolaus – SR.
Bendure led the Northern Section in tackles with 163 of them, nine of which came for loss.
LB Garrett McCray – East Nicolaus – SR.

McCray was second in the section with 162 tackles, nine of which came for loss, and he also forced a whopping five fumbles. He also was an important contributor on offense for East Nicolaus at guard.
DB/ATH Michael Lister – Orland – SR.
The Defensive MVP of the Northern League, Lister notched seven interceptions and 3.5 TFLs on defense, and that wasn't all. He also totaled a combined 454 yards and six touchdowns receiving and rushing on offense, and put in work as a kick/punt returner to finish with 888 all-purpose yards.
DB D'Angelo Acosta – Sutter – SR.
Acosta was one of the most versatile DBs in the section, registering 36 tackles, nine TFLs, 4.5 sacks, and two picks.
DB/WR Riley Hays – University Prep – SR.
Hays recorded 69 tackles and five interceptions for the Division 4 champion, and added 383 yards and three touchdowns receiving.
DB/K Leighton Tarke – Sutter – SR.
Tarke was the MVP of the Butte View League for his dominance at safety and work as one of the top kickers in the section. He finished the season with 116 tackles, four pass break-ups, a pick, and two forced fumbles, and also made 43-49 PATs on the season and five of his seven field goal attempts.
