Congratulations to Chiawana High School quarterback JP Zamora for being voted our Washington Federal Athlete of the Week!

Zamora racked up 229 total yards and six touchdowns in just over two quarters of play in Chiawana’s 61-6 win over Southridge.

Zamora received 18.5% of the vote, beating out Mount Si QB Clay Millen who finished with 12.1%. Emerald Ridge Kaden Martin finished third with 10.2% and Franklin Pierce ATH Junior Faafiti finished fourth with 9.3%.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for Oct. 14-20:

Gio Ursino, Eastside Catholic RB: Ursino amassed 186 yards from scrimmage on 23 touches and scored 3 touchdowns in Eastside Catholic’s 48-35 win over Seattle Prep. He also had a 75 yard kick-off return TD to finish with 261 all-purpose yards.

Kate Sprink, Glacier Peak girls soccer: Sprink headed home the game-winning golden goal in double overtime off a free kick from Maddie Seelhoff to give Glacier Peak a 2-1 win over Jackson on Oct. 17.

Clay Millen, Mount Si QB: Millen was 17-of-20 passing for 213 yards and five touchdowns to lead Mount Si to a 55-7 win over Skyline. He also rushed for 45 yards.

Junior Faafiti, Franklin Pierce ATH: Faafiti had three interceptions and a fumble recovery in Franklin Pierce’s 45-36 win over Foster.

Ashley Nguyen, Kennedy Catholic girls soccer: Nguyen scored two first-half goals to lead Kennedy Catholic to a 2-0 victory over Kentridge Thursday night in a key NPSL Cascade Division matchup.

Ryan Blair, Mead QB: Blair was 20 of 25 for 259 yards and four touchdown passes to lead Mead to a 35-19 win over Central Valley.

Kieran Kershaw, La Salle QB: Kershaw threw for 115 yards, rushed for 108 yards and picked off a pass on defense to lead La Salle to a 42-14 win over Zillah, ending the Leopards’ 45-game SCAC West win streak.

Kaden Martin, Emerald Ridge: Martin had 9 tackles, 2 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in ER’s 21-14 win over Sumner. He also added 53 yards rushing and two TDs.

Dylan Paine, Tumwater RB: Paine had 23 carries for 196 yards and three touchdowns in Tumwater’s 34-0 win over W.F. West.

Logan Brady, Steilacoom WR: Brady had 9 catches for 118 yards and four touchdowns in Steilacoom’s 35-14 win over Eatonville.

Henry Mercado, Kamiakin QB: Mercado, a sophomore, passed for 289 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 26 yards in Kamiakin’s 30-7 victory over Richland.

Gabe Johnson, Kentwood RB: Johnson rushed 27 times for 277 yards and a touchdown and added a 70-yard TD reception in Kentwood’s 34-24 win over Tahoma.

Levi Crum, Hockinson QB: Crum passed for 232 yards and three touchdowns, ran for 90 yards on 12 carries and caught the game-sealing interception to lift Hockinson to a 21-14 win over Kelso.

Tanner Jellison, Lake Stevens QB: Jellison was 12/16 for 295 yards and 5 TDs in Lake Steven’s 48-0 win over Cascade.

Ashton Haight, Onalaska RB: Haight rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries as the No. 1 Loggers bulldozed No. 2 Napavine, 36-13.

Kaden Richie, Friday Harbor RB: Richie had 215 yards rushing, four TDs, two two-point conversions, eight tackles and one TFL in Friday Harbor’s 30-0 win over LaConner.
