Here is SBLive’s 2020 preseason all-state team for Arkansas high school football. The statewide team spans all Arkansas high school classifications and was compiled by SBLive reporter Connor Morrissette.

Players were selected based on last season’s performance, offseason observations and conversations with media sources and coaches.





QB: Austin Ledbetter – Sr. – Bryant

Ledbetter threw 40 touchdown passes last season while leading the Hornets to a perfect 13-0 record and their second consecutive 7A State Championship. He’s made a verbal commitment to play baseball at the University of Arkansas.

RB: Hunter Smith – Sr. – Joe T. Robinson

With 1,922 rushing yards last season and a 4A state championship ring, Smith enters his senior year as the top rushing threat in the state.

RB: Joe Himon – Jr. Pulaski Academy

Last season Himon rushed for 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns on 10.2 yards per carry.

OL: Terry Wells – Sr. – Wynne

Wells is committed to Arkansas.

OL: Josh Street – Sr. – Bentonville

Street, 6-foot-6 and 295 pounds, has offers from Kansas, Maryland and others.

OL: Makilan Thomas – Sr. – Little Rock Central

Thomas, 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, is committed to Arkansas St.

OL: Andrew Chamblee – Jr. – Maumelle

At 6-foot-7 and 280 pounds, Chamblee (No. 72) can move mountains. He already has 12 scholarship offers, per, and is the top-ranked Class of 2022 prospect in Arkansas.

OL: E'Marion Harris – Jr. – Joe T. Robinson

The son of former Arkansas defensive lineman Elliott Harris, Sr., E'Marion is considered one of the best offensive lineman in the country in the Class of 2022. At 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds, Harris has NFL size. He currently has 13 scholarship offers, per

TE: Erin Outley – Sr. – Parkview Magnet

One of the most heavily-recruited prospects in Arkansas at any position, Outley racked up over 800 receiving yards last season and 13 touchdowns on 50 receptions. He currently is committed to Arkansas, but has 23 offers and is still planning to take more visits before signing his NLI.

WR: Marlon Crockett – Sr. – Cabot

Crockett, an Arkansas State commit, hauled in 65 catches for 1,080 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.

WR: Ja’quez Cross – Sr. – Fordyce

Cross caught 58 passes for 975 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2019. He is committed to South Dakota State.



DL: Deldrick (DJ) Withers – Sr. – Joe T. Robinson

Withers picked up 75 tackles and eight sacks last season. He’s committed to Kansas.

DL: Tyas Martin – Sr. – Jacksonville

Martin is a dominant force on the interior of the defensive line. He’s committed to Colorado.

DL: Nico Davillier – Jr. – Maumelle

Davillier made a major impression after recording 22 tackles and two sacks as a sophomore. He’s picked up offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia and five others.

DL: Chris Haywood – Sr. – Foreman

Haywood enters his fourth varsity season having collected 257 tackles, 24 sacks, and eight forced fumbles.

LB: Cole Joyce – Sr. – Bentonville

Joyce is committed to Central Florida. Last season he helped lead the Tigers to the 7A semifinals by anchoring one of the best defenses in the state.

LB: Marco Avant – Sr. – Jonesboro

Avant, a 3-star Arkansas commit, registered 83 tackles (12 for loss) for Jonesboro as a junior.

LB: Corey Platt Jr. – Sr. – Little Rock Christian Academy

Platt made 154 tackles and had four sacks and four interceptions last season. He is committed to Arkansas state.

DB: Dreyden Norwood – Sr. – Northside (Fort Smith)

Norwood is the consensus top recruit in Arkansas’ 2021 class. He’s committed to Texas A&M.


DB: Daniel Perry – Jr. – Searcy

Perry had seven interceptions and 61 tackles for Searcy, the 6A state champs, as a sophomore.

DB: Cain Simmons – Jr. – Benton

Simmons recorded 107 tackles and three picks as a sophomore for Benton, last year’s 6A runner up.

DB: Omarion Dickens – Jr. – Prescott

Dickens has received a scholarship offer from Kansas. He’s a top recruit in Arkansas’ 2022 class.



K: Isaiah Hankins – Sr. – Little Rock Christian

Hankins has a big leg. He had 57 touchbacks and made nine field goals last season.

P: Ashton Waller – Jr. – Conway

Waller averaged 33.8 yards per punt last season.

LS: Brayden Bice – Sr. – Bentonville West

Bice is a nationally ranked long-snapping prospect.

K/P Returner: Tharon Davis – Sr. – Newport

Davis had both a kickoff return and a punt return TD in 2019. He's committed to North Alabama.
