Congratulations to Corona del Sol running back Anyale Velazquez for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Arizona High School Athlete of the Week!

Velazquez ran for three touchdowns and more than 100 yards in the Aztecs’ 45-9 victory over the Mountain Pointe Pride.

Velazquez received 45.32% of the vote, beating out Corona del Sol QB Cade Swearingen, who finished with 43.57%. Desert Edge RB Jeryll McIntosh finished third with 6.61% and Mountain Ridge QB Brendan Anderson was fourth with 3.2%.

And here are the other athletes who were nominated for Oct. 26-Nov. 1

CJ Wiggins, Gila Ridge QB: Wiggins led Gila Ridge to a 51-0 rout of Kofa with four passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.

Mark Wren, Thatcher RB: Wren dominated in a 49-38 victory over Florence, scoring six of the Eagles’ seven touchdowns.

Xander Werner, Saguaro QB: Werner ran for four touchdowns and passed for another in a 48-20 victory over Casteel.

Andrey Acosta, Cibola QB: Cibola beat Yuma 53-28 behind a dominant first half. Acosta went for three touchdowns and 272 passing yards in that first half. 

John Beltran, Cibola RB: Beltran also was dominant in the first half, totaling three touchdowns and 112 yards before halftime. 

Brendan Anderson, Mountain Ridge QB: Anderson led Mountain Ridge to a 63-22 victory over Valley Vista with five touchdown passes in less than three quarters. 

Levi Huisman, Northwest Christian RB: Huisman went for 229 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in 2.5 quarters in a 52-12 win over Peoria. 

Brock Mast, Liberty QB: Mast led the way for Liberty with four passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in a 53-27 win against Chaparral.

Nicolas Nesbitt, Chandler RB: Filling in for Eli Sanders, Nesbitt scored two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown in three quarters to help beat Centennial 31-7. 

Issac Madrigal, Cesar Chavez QB: Madrigal didn’t finish with gaudy numbers, but his two rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown helped Cesar Chavez put 69 points on the board in a blowout of South Mountain. 

Kaden Cloud, Williams Field: Cloud ran for three touchdowns in a 28-27 win over Higley.

Payton Barlow, Queen Creek RB/CB: In a 24-14 defensive duel win against Highland, Barlow ran/caught for five first downs and had a game-sealing interception. 

Cade Swearingen, Corona del Sol QB:Swearingen threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in a 45-9 rout of Mountain Pointe. He completed 11 of 16 passes for 149 yards.

Gabe Levy, Cienega RB: Levy ran for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries in a 28-14 victory over Canyon Del Oro.

Ryan Swoger, Canyon Del Oro QB/DB: Swoger did everything he could to keep his team in the game, running for 133 yards and a touchdown and snagging three interceptions. 

Jeryll McIntosh, Desert Edge RB: McIntosh ran for three scores in a 28-17 win over Mesa.

Tristen Sanchez-Clark, Agua Fría QB: Sanchez-Clark came up with two rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown in clutch moments to propel the Owls to a 27-21 comeback victory against Willow Canyon.
