Friday is typically the marquee night of high school football, but not this week.

Thursday takes center stage with the biggest game of the week in high school football across the nation when Chaminade-Madonna (Florida) takes on Miami Central in a game televised on ESPN2.

Chaminade-Madonna enters the game ranked No. 6 in the national SBLive/Sports Illustrated Top 25, with Miami Central just behind at No. 8.

And the Lions are No. 2 in the SBLive Florida Top 25, with the Rockets right on their heels at No. 3.

Chaminade-Madonna (Florida)

Chaminade-Madonna has had several early-season tests and passed every one of them.

The Lions are coming off a 28-16 road win over American Heritage in front of a sellout crowd of close to 3,000 (among them Miami Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal and NFL quarterback Cam Newton).

Chaminade-Madonna coach Dameon Jones wants to see a lot more out of his guys this week on national television.

“We’ve got so much stuff to clean up,” he said after the American Heritage game. “Like I tell them every week, nobody can stop us except us.”

Miami Central (Florida)

For the second year in a row, weather wreaked havoc on the Rockets’ matchup with Carol City last week.

Last year’s game was called at halftime because of a heavy downpour and lightning. This time, the Panthers led 14-0 in the second quarter when the game was postponed.

Chaminade-Madonna's high-powered offense should test Miami Central, but you know head coach Jube Joseph will have his players ready for the challenge.
