The 20 best volleyball players in the nation during the 2023 high school season

These 20 athletes were sensational on the court during the fall

The 2023 high school volleyball season is officially in the books.

To put a bow on an exciting few months of action, SBLive Sports is highlighting some of the top players from the best teams across the country.

Hamilton Southeastern (Indiana) is the SBLive Sports volleyball national champion

Here are 20 volleyball players who turned in spectacular performances during the 2023 high school season.

Grace Agolli, sr., Pace Academy (Georgia)

Pace Academy brought home its seventh straight state championship this fall, and Agolli was a big reason why. The Cal signee put up 389 kills, 168 digs, 52 blocks, and 47 aces as a senior. 

Ayden Ames, sr., Prosper (Texas)

Ames had 548 kills, 485 digs and 165 blocks as Prosper reached the Class 6A state semifinals, and Ames made the all-tournament team. The Texas signee finished her high school career with 1,567 kills in three seasons. 

Jaela Auguste, sr., Conroe Grand Oaks (Texas)

Auguste closed her high school career with 417 total blocks, including 152 this season. The Florida signee also had 274 kills for a Conroe Grand Oaks team that went 50-1 and secured the Class 6A state title.

Alex Bower, sr., Skyview (Idaho)

Bower tallied 862 assists, 197 digs, 123 kills, 59 aces and 40 blocks as Skyview captured its fourth consecutive state championship. The setter is headed to BYU where her two of her sisters, Whitney and Eden, also compete. 

Zoey Burgess, sr., Lone Peak (Utah)

Burgess, a Kansas signee, paced Lone Peak in kills (279) and blocks (65) while also contributing with 94 digs and 45 aces. The middle helped lead Lone Peak to a fourth consecutive Class 6A state title. 

Camryn Chatellier, sr., St. Mary’s Dominican (Louisiana)

Chatellier had 595 kills, 477 digs, 58 aces and 32 blocks as St. Mary’s Dominican earned a fourth straight state championship. The multi-dimensional senior standout will play beach volleyball for LSU. 

Isabel Clark, sr., Mater Dei (California)

Clark pounded out 402 kills as Mater Dei finished 43-2 and captured the CIF Open Division title. Clark, a San Diego signee, also had 53 blocks and 40 aces. 

Lauren Dreves, sr., Columbia River (Washington)

Dreves carried Columbia River to a perfect 30-0 season and the Class 2A state championship. The outside hitter is an Auburn signee. 

Campbell Flynn, jr., Farmington Hills Mercy (Michigan)

Flynn posted 41 assists, 15 digs and five kills as Farmington Hills Mercy took down Forest Hills Northern for the Division I state championship. The junior setter is committed to Nebraska. 

Charlie Fuerbringer, sr., Mira Costa (California)

The top senior setter prospect in the nation, Fuerbringer helped carry Mira Costa to a 39-4 record this fall. Fuerbringer will play college volleyball in the Big Ten at Wisconsin. 

MacKenna Halfin, sr., Philip Barbour (West Virginia)

Halfin piled up 605 kills, 139 digs, 96 blocks and 37 aces as Philip Barbour placed second in Class AA this fall after capturing back-to-back state titles. Halfin finished her high school career with 1,444 kills. 

Lauren Harden, sr., Hamilton Southeastern (Indiana)

Harden closed her high school career by leading Hamilton Southeastern, SBLive’s No. 1 national team, to a 33-0 record and consecutive Class 4A state titles. The Florida signee tallied 371 kills as a senior. 

Lauren Medeck, sr., Papillion-LaVista South (Nebraska)

Medeck had 391 kills, 363 digs, 42 blocks and 28 aces for a Papillion-LaVista South team that finished 35-2 overall. The South Dakota signee registered 1,538 kills and 1,313 digs during her high school career. 

Alyssa Nelson, sr., Lafayette (Missouri)

Nelson averaged north of 1,000 assists in her final three seasons with Lafayette, including 1,036 as a senior to go along with 303 digs, 62 assists and 22 blocks. The Villanova signee earned all-state honors and led the Lancers to back-to-back Class 5 championships. 

Payton Petersen, sr., Dike-New Hartford (Iowa)

Playing alongside her twin sister Jadyn, Payton Petersen registered 616 kills, 333 digs, 36 aces and 35 blocks as Dike-New Hartford finished 50-0 overall and claimed the Class 2A state title. Payton is a Louisville signee. 

Madison Quest, jr., Divine Savior Holy Angels (Wisconsin)

Quest piled up 557 kills, 306 digs, 67 blocks and 57 aces for a Divine Savior Holy Angels team that went 47-1 and won back-to-back Division 1 state titles. The junior hitter is committed to Wisconsin. 

Alec Rothe, sr., Dublin Scioto (Ohio)

Rothe finished her high school career with 1,311 kills, including 295 this winter in 70 sets as Dublin Scioto finished 27-1 overall. The three-sport star will play college volleyball for Florida. 

Stella Swenson, sr., Wayzata (Minnesota)

Swenson finished her high school career with 3,017 assists, 632 digs, 203 blocks and 184 aces. Swenson and her twin sister, Olivia, guided Wayzata to four consecutive state championships. Both Swensons will play in college for Minnesota.

Paige Thies, sr., Oregon City (Oregon)

Thies recorded 404 kills and led Oregon City to its first state championship match appearance in program history. The hitter is headed to Arizona for college. 

Ellie White, sr., Mother McAuley (Illinois)

White had 484 kills as Mother McAuley secured its third consecutive Class 4A state title. The outside hitter is a Michigan signee.
