We are just heading into the postseason portion of the 2023 high school football season here in New Jersey and there’s no shortage of underclassmen quarterbacks performing at a high level.

It’s no surprise that sophomore signal callers are showing out in the Garden State as that’s been the case in the past many times over. This list of underclassmen features some of the top sophomore quarterbacks we’ve seen or have been on the rise in New Jersey. Take a look at our list and vote for who you feel has been the top performing sophomore high school quarterback in New Jersey.

Voting closes on November 30th, 11:59pm

Here are the nominations:

Lamar Best, Willingboro: There’s been no better passer in the Garden State at the sophomore level than Best. The signal caller has completed 145-of-220 passes for 2,425 yards, 34 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Cole Aquino, Washington Township: The Minutemen sophomore quarterback has had himself a strong 2023 campaign and into the playoffs. Aquino has completed 110-of-182 passes for 1,350 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Derek Zammit, DePaul Catholic: Zammit has been very efficient from the pocket, completing 61 percent of his passes this season. The 6-foot, 175-pound quarterback has completed 111-of-181 passes for 1,640 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Robert McDade, Pennsville Memorial: The Eagles signal caller has made a name for himself in his sophomore campaign and putting up good numbers through the air. McDade has thrown for 1,283 yards on 101-of-180 passing and eight touchdowns.

Mason Geis, Immaculata: Geis trails only Best at the top of this list when it comes to touchdown tosses. The Spartans’ quarterback has completed 56-of-113 passes for 1,025 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Jack Cannon, Holmdel: The Hornets’ starting quarterback has made sure to keep good care of the football. That means no interceptions so far this season for Cannon, with 1,003 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Tyler Bell, St. Peter’s Prep: Bell has answered the proverbial bell whenever he’s needed to make big throws for the Marauders. The quarterback has thrown for 1,180 yards and eight touchdowns.

Luke Senatore, Fort Lee: Though Senatore doesn’t have as many throws as the others listed, he’s been every bit as effective. Senatore has thrown for 631 yards on 43-of-82 passing and 10 touchdowns to just two interceptions.
