The Buckaroos took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 65-yard catch-and-run connection between quarterback Collin Primus and Payton Lambert.

The Dragons (6-4) answered in the second quarter with Person’s 15-yard scoring run and successful point-after kick.

Person finished with 90 yards rushing. Demitri Harris also had an interception for the Dragons, who held the Buckaroos to 13 points below their previous season low. The Dragons themselves mustered a point total that matched their season low — but it was enough for them to make the second round.

The Buckaroos threatened late, taking possession with 1:50 left and converting on a third-and-18 play en route to reaching the Dragons’ 9-yard line. On third down, Dallas got a sack on a play that — combined with an intentional grounding penalty — resulted in fourth-and-18. The Dragons broke up a fade pass on fourth down to seal the win.
