After a back-and-forth slugfest in the fog Friday in downtown Atlanta, Benedictine won the Class 4A state championship behind its trio of offensive superstars.

Future Auburn quarterback Holden Geriner completed 24 of 30 passes for 397 yards and four touchdowns, while Za'Quan Bryan and Justin Thomas scored two touchdowns each in Benedictine's 35-28 win over Carver-Columbus.

Bryan and Thomas both had over 100 yards receiving, and Thomas added a 4-yard rushing touchdown.

Kam Edge caught Geriner's final touchdown pass, an 80-yard strike after the Cadets had a fumble recovery in the end zone.

Carver-Columbus put up quite a fight with a yearly 200-yard rushing game from Jaiden Credle, who had two long touchdown runs.

Darron Reed led the Carver defense with five sacks.

It's the third state championship in school history for Benedictine, which gets to take the trophy back to the coast in Savannah.
