Colorado, Deion Sanders lose second high school quarterback prospect in as many days

Cathedral (Indiana) 3-star Danny O'Neil de-commits after Buffs finish 4-8

The Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders have lost its second quarterback commit in as many days.

On3's Hayes Fawcett reported Monday morning that Danny O'Neil, a three-star QB from Indiana, rescinded his commitment from head coach Deion Sanders and Colorado, where he'd been committed since March.

The Cathedral (Indiana) signal-caller is the second QB in as many days to de-commit from the Buffs, who finished their first season of the Sanders era with a loss to Utah Saturday with a 4-8 record, missing bowl contention by two games.

On Sunday, elite Georgia 2025 QB prospect Antwann Hill de-committed from Colorado and announced he wouldn't be classing up to 2024, as he'd previously planned.

Colorado recently lost tight end coach Tim Brewster and offensive coordinator/QBs coach Sean Lewis was demoted and replaced by analyst Pat Shurmur.

O'Neil's most favorable rating comes from Rival, which has him as the No. 7 prospect in Indiana and nation's No. 31 QB.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior amassed 2,068 yards and 31 touchdowns through 12 games, leading Cathedral (Indiana) to the IHSAA Class 6A regional championship, where it lost to eventual state champ Ben Davis, 27-24.

Colorado has the No. 65 ranked 2024 class in the country, according to 247 Sports. The transfer portal opens on Dec. 4.
