Kenna Stimmel left little doubt Friday that she's the best girls pole vaulter in Ohio history.

She set the bar high with a jump of 14 feet, 6.25 inches at the Division III state championships in Columbus, setting a state and National Federation of High School Sports record.

She just missed at 14-9.75, which would have beat Washington's Amanda Moll, who had a 14-9.5 in March at the Texas Relays, a non-federation event.

But she did beat the Margaretta boys pole vault record of 14-6 along with winning her third consecutive Division III state pole vault championship. COVID-19 canceled the 2020 spring season, preventing the possibility of a fourth.

Stimmel also qualified for the finals Saturday in the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and 4x100 relay.

Also Friday in the prelims, Gahanna Lincoln’s Camden Bentley broke the girls Division I state tournament record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.45.

The Ohio high school track and field state tournament wraps up today.
