What’s next for the Oregon wrestling community?

The postseason kicked off this weekend while the boys had their big shindig at the Reser’s Tournament of Champions in Hillsboro, with girls wrestlers statewide competing at their district tournaments.
For the first time, the OSAA split the girls into two divisions — Class 6A/5A and Class 4A/3A/2A/1A. They’ll rejoin the boys at Memorial Coliseum in Portland at the end of February during the three-day state championships.
Two weeks of district tournaments for the boys begin next weekend with the 6A, 3A and 2A/1A tournaments. The following weekend (Feb. 17-18), the 5A and 4A district tournaments will take place.
Finally, everyone will gather at Memorial Coliseum from Feb. 23-25 for a three-day extravaganza. Day 1 is all about the state’s small schools, with the 4A, 3A, 2A/1A and 4A/3A/2A/1A girls competing all day through the placement round.
The middle day sees the 6A, 5A and 6A/5A girls competing through the quarterfinals in the morning, with the 4A, 3A, 2A/1A and 4A/3A/2A/1A girls medal matches contested in the evening.
The final day has the 6A, 5A and 6A/5A girls completing their tournaments, with the Parade of Champions and championship finals starting at 6 p.m. Saturday.
