Damien Spartans edge Mater Dei Monarchs 55-51 in California high school basketball game

Damien Guard R.J. Smith led the way with 21 points as the Spartans beat Mater Dei Monarchs 55-51 in a game at La Verne, CA.

Smith’s points came on 5 field goals, 3 three pointers and 2 of 2 free throws during the game.

Harrison Hornery added 24. Mater Dei fell to 26-2 overall while Damien improved their record to 29-1.

Mater Dei’s next game is scheduled to be played at home on Tuesday Jun. 1 versus Harvard Westlake. Damien will host Harvard Westlake on Friday Jun. 4
