Photos, video: No. 2 Duncanville stages epic comeback to beat Humble Atascocita in 6A Texas semifinals
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - What a finish by Duncanville.
The second-ranked team in the country showed why they're special on Friday night, scoring the final 14 points of the game to beat Humble Atascocita 50-36 in the Texas (UIL) Class 6A boys basketball semifinals.
Duncanville will now get a chance to win back-to-back state titles when they face McKinney in the 6A state title game on Saturday.
Ron Holland led Duncanville with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Anthony Black filled up the stat sheet with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks.
Landyn Jumawan led Humble Atascocita with 13 points.
Humble Atascocita led 32-19 at halftime, but managed just four points in the second half as Duncanville turned up the defensive pressure.
Duncanville took its first lead since early in the first quarter on a dunk by Holland with 6:03 left in the game to go up 36-34. After two free throws by Angel Johnson tied it at 36-36 with 5:39 left, the Panthers took over. They forced six turnovers over the final five minutes and dominated the paint, outscoring the Eagles 14-0 to run away with the win.
