Photos: Shelby Derzapf leads Collinsville to blowout win over Alvord
COLLINSVILLE, Texas — Shelby Derzapf made key contributions in every phase of the game for Collinsville on Friday night.
The sophomore standout used a huge night at the plate and a dominant performance in the circle to help lead the Pirates to a blowout 17-2 victory in three innings against the Alvord Bulldogs at Collinsville ISD Softball Field.
Derzapf set the tone with her bat by tallying three RBI on a 2-for-3 night at the plate, but sealed the deal with her arm in the circle.
She combined with junior Abby Martin to pitch three innings for Collinsville, collectively allowing two hits and striking out eight.
Sophomore Audrey Miller and junior Audrey Light also helped spark an offensive explosion for the Pirates. Light finished 2-for-2 at the plate, while Miller went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a triple.
The victory moves Collinsville to 9-8 overall and 5-1 in district play, while Alvord remains winless against district competition so far this season.
The Pirates will return to action to battle Muenster at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Collinsville, and the Bulldogs will look to bounce back against Saint Jo at the same time in Alvord.
