Congratulations to Little Elm girls basketball senior point guard Amarachi Kimpson for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 30-Feb. 5!

Kimpson stood out as an efficient shooter and an active defender for the Loboes during a pair of close wins to close out district play in District 5-6A with victories over Denton Braswell and Prosper Rock Hill, extending Little Elm’s then seven-game winning streak.

She scored 25 points on 7-of-14 shooting (50% FG) and also tallied six steals and five rebounds in one of her top offensive performances of the year in a 53-46 win over Braswell.

Kimpson kept rolling in the Loboes’ 49-44 victory against Rock Hill. She racked up 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting (53.8% FG) with seven assists, six steals and four rebounds to pace Little Elm’s high-octane offense.

The UNLV Rebels commit averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 steals, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the week while making more than half of all her shots from the floor during that stretch.

Kimpson ran away with our latest Texas Athlete of the Week vote to capture this week's honor, receiving 98.77% of the vote.

Kimpson and the Loboes have stayed hot, beating Plano East in a 50-44 bi-district round victory Monday in the Class 6A Texas high school girls basketball playoffs. have continued their winning ways, picking up three more victories in recent District 28-3A action.

Little Elm (28-5) will return to action looking to extend its nine-game winning streak against the Lake Highlands Wildcats (14-16) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, in the area round of the 6A UIL girls basketball playoffs.
