The nationally-ranked DeSoto Eagles are one step away from returning to the state championship, but they will face a final test of their strength on Saturday when they take on Southlake Carroll in the semifinal round of the Texas UIL 6A D2 playoffs.

DeSoto is eager to defend its state title, but if Southlake Carroll can pull out a win, it would be one of the biggest upsets of the year.

DeSoto (13-0)

Up to this point, not even nationally-ranked Duncanville has been able to slow down the Eagles. 

They have blown right by every team they have faced and have an average margin of victory of nearly five touchdowns. 

Southlake Carroll (13-1)

The Dragons stumbled in their October loss to Byron Nelson but got their revenge last week when they destroyed that same Byron Nelson team to the tune of 56-7. 

Of the 14 opponents they have faced, they've held 11 of those teams to two touchdowns or less all while averaging more than 54 points per game.
