Essex (14-0)

The Trojans have been borderline untouchable this year.

With five shutouts under their belt and five more games where they held opponents to eight points or less, they have an average margin of victory of more than 31 points.

Galax (10-4)

After losing three of its first four games, the Maroon Tide was not looking like a team that would be competing for a state title in 2023.

However, Galax went on to win nine of its next ten games, including four consecutive wins on the road in this year's playoff run.
