Cody Bellinger Seems to Shade Dodgers While Talking About Upcoming Free Agency

Is it shade? Is he finally just feeling healthy? Is it both?

After a great stretch at the plate, former Cody Bellinger is apparently feeling himself and wants everyone to know. The one time Dodgers center fielder struggled over the final three seasons of his time with LA as he battled injuries to his leg and, most importantly, his shoulder.

Now several years removed from shoulder surgery, Bellinger finds himself with the Cubs and ready to throw a little shade at his former club.

“I love it here,” Bellinger told Bob Nightengale of USA Today. “It is great here. Wrigley Field is such an amazing place. We’ll see what happens, but for now, we’re in a playoff race. I’m just trying to go out every day and help this team win.‘’

“We’ll see what happens down the road,‘’ Bellinger says, “but it’s a great organization. I love it here.“I’m having fun again.‘’

That last little I'm having fun again has ruffled some feathers for Dodgers fans. He's more likely referencing the fact that he's finally healthy again, but there's at least a little vitriol toward LA in his choice of words.

Helping fuel that narrative, USA Today also spoke with Bellinger's agent, Scott Boras, who he told that he wanted to go to "teams that know me the best, and I want go where people understand me.”

It's a known fact that Cody was frustrated with the club and coaching staff over constant swing changes and ideas that seemingly went nowhere. Ultimately it seems he just needed time to get healthy and get his body right after a major shoulder operation.

Bellinger figures to re-enter free agency this offseason and could secure a lucrative multi-year deal from the Cubs or any other team in baseball... just don't be surprised if it's not with the Dodgers.
